My Audrey: MPIO FY800 mp3 Player

Saturday, August 11, 2007

I thought my spending would stop, but I was really having a hard time using my old mp3 player. It was a hassle to recharge the AAA batteries. I was not really content with 256mb storage and the defective LCD screen. With this last acquisition, I really think I won't get anymore gadgets.

I would like to introduce MPIO FY800. As I usual, I will give it a name. Her name is Audrey. Audrey exudes elegance like Hepburn, and rhymes with MP3. It contains an built-in lithium ion battery, similar to cellphones, which can be charged via USB. A friend was looking for the best MP3 player with value for money and this is the product he bought after all the searching.

The feature that I love is the expandable SD card slot. Right now it can be expanded with up to a 4gig SD card, but I cannot find a 4gig SD card anywhere. Another convenient feature is the you can browse your files while playing a mp3. One touch recording is very nice feature.

I wanted to try Korean technology this time. I believe that this is a great product and it has met my expectations. The only test is its durability. For more details, visit the official MPIO site.

Recording feature

I wonder if the recording feature could be used to record a whole worship service. Could you try it? If this will work, then there's no need to bring a notebook to record. It has a line in jack right?

Btw, if you record off the mixer output, you might need to attenuate the signal or you could just turn down the volume as you seem to have been doing when using your notebook PC.

Line In Recording...

Unfortunately, it doesn't have a line-in jack. It only has a built-in microphone. I have been recording the whole service, but I always encounter the clipped audio when many microphones are used. I get the audio from the speaker's monitor. Each microphone has its own monitor volume.

The reason why I got Aubrey was because of its mp3 functionality and not the recording. As usual, I'm always grateful that it has that bonus feature.
