My wife Pia sings the studio vocal. Destiny Music wrote and released the song. Pia tracked her part at home during COVID while my mother-in-law watched our son in the next room. I was there for that session. Every time the Spotify version comes on, I still hear that afternoon more than the mix.

This is not a review of Destiny Music’s catalog. It is the family story attached to one track. You get the studio cut, live cut, and videos in one place. I stop hunting for them again.

What DNPAP Means

DNPAP stands for “Diyos Ng Pagasa at Pagibig” - Filipino for “God of Hope and Love.” The acronym sticks in a set list. The meaning is the part worth carrying.

Local Filipino songs land differently in that room when the congregation already knows the words. DNPAP is the one I can’t forget. I don’t claim it as my favorite track of all time. I watched the vocal get recorded in our house.

The Remote Session During COVID

Lockdown made ordinary studio days impossible. Destiny Music still needed the vocal. Pia recorded remotely from home.

The setup was not glamorous. Headphones. A quiet corner. Our son with my mother-in-law so Pia could take the take without a toddler soundtrack. I sat nearby with nothing useful to do except stay out of the way and keep the house from interrupting.

When she finished, it did not feel like “content” for a blog. It felt like work that happened to land on a song churches would later sing. Months later, hearing that same voice on Spotify still does a small double-take - private room, public release.
