Assurance

Created Jun 30, 2026, 5:08 AM · Updated Jun 30, 2026, 5:08 AM

Assurance = eternal life rests on Christ's finished work and promise - not on my performance this week (John 10:28-29; Romans 8:38-39; 1 John 5:13).

Free Grace names the gift; Justification names the verdict; assurance names where I rest when doubt hits. Bad weeks, hidden sin, dread at the Judgment Seat - none of those re-open the case Justification closed. Loss of Reward keeps reward-loss separate: I can stumble, lose reward, and still belong to Christ. Childlike Faith receives the promise like a child - stop re-negotiating merit every Monday. Standing vs Fellowship keeps the categories straight: closeness breaks, standing stays. PKM mirror: Minimum Effective Dose - faith is the sufficient act; assurance rests on that, not a lifetime merit stack.

Examples

  • Bad week and dread God changed His mind - assurance rests on Christ's promise, not my obedience streak.
  • I pictured the judgment seat and panicked like heaven might get revoked - salvation settled at faith; works get reviewed for reward after.
  • Doubt loop after hidden sin - trust what Christ finished; confess, restore fellowship, keep walking.
  • Waiting to feel holy enough before I trust I'm His - believe first; assurance follows faith, not feeling.
