Childlike Faith

The kingdom is received like a child receives care, not negotiated on a merit ladder.

• Receive the kingdom like a child - stop negotiating merit before you enter.

And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. • Children do not enter the kingdom by achievement; they receive care they did not earn.
• Jesus was not praising ignorance - he was naming the posture Free Grace and Assurance require: stop calculating worthiness and receive the gift.
• Same first-day posture as Getting Started in the garden - assume you are new, follow the guide, do not perform expertise you do not have.

Level 1 - Recognize

Childlike faith is receiving God's gift without trying to earn worthiness first.

Level 2 - Explain

A child receives care through trust, which pictures dependence rather than ignorance or achievement.

Level 3 - Use

Come to prayer as someone who belongs, without waiting for a respectable week.

Level 4 - Connect

Childlike trust does not reject growth or discernment; under Free Grace, receiving the gift and learning obedience belong to different lanes.

Level 5 - Create

Help a new believer practice trust without a merit scoreboard, then build habits that grow from assurance rather than fear.

Examples

• My daughter asked for water at practice without calculating whether she had earned it - glad I caught myself running a merit scoreboard with God before I would even say good morning.
• I delay prayer until my week looks respectable - childlike faith means coming like a kid who already belongs, not a contractor negotiating terms.
