Christlikeness
Table of Contents
God keeps reshaping believers to look and love more like Jesus - growth after faith, not the entry fee.
Key Concept
- Fully trained, like the teacher - the aim is not my old default self on display, it is looking more like Jesus over years.
And He also spoke a parable to them: “A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit? A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.Luke 6:39-40 NASB1995
- Free Grace settles where I spend forever; Justification already settled standing - I do not manufacture Christlikeness to earn it.
- Christlikeness names who I become - more of His patience in traffic, more of His gentleness at dinner, less of my default self on display.
- Sanctification is the slow process, Discipleship the daily walk, Abide in Me the engine; fruit may back up a claim, never grounds Assurance.
- Fruits of the Spirit is what people notice when the walk is real.
Level 1 - Recognize
Christlikeness is becoming more like Jesus in ordinary character and conduct over time.
Level 2 - Explain
It is growth after faith, as abiding and discipleship reshape daily reactions without purchasing standing before God.
Level 3 - Use
When you snap at dinner, apologize and practice the patience you want to show next time.
Level 4 - Connect
Free Grace settles standing while Sanctification names growth; confusing them turns fruit into a price for Justification.
Level 5 - Create
Build a rule of life around Abide in Me, then help others practice the visible fruit of becoming more like Christ.
Examples
- I lost my temper at dinner and apologized slower than I used to snap - glad faith settled standing while God still reshapes me; Christlikeness is slow.
- I performed kindness at church and was sharp with the cashier an hour later - Christlikeness is not a badge from one emotional Sunday, it is looking more like Jesus on ordinary Tuesdays.
