Composure
Table of Contents
Composure = steady tone and pace when the room isn't — people read calm as competence.
Example
A referee stays calm when players yell — not because the foul didn't matter, but because the room takes cues from the steadiest person. I used the same move in a heated parent meeting: slower speech, one clarifying question, no matching their volume.
