Grace
Table of Contents
God's unmerited favor - He gives good I never earned, starting with salvation and continuing through the walk after (Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Titus 2:11-12).
Key Concept
Mercy withholds what I deserve; grace gives what I couldn't earn.
Same rescue, two angles - rich in mercy, saved by grace (Ephesians 2:4-5). Free Grace is grace applied to eternal life: Christ paid what I couldn't; I receive by faith, not wages. Justification names the verdict grace triggers - declared righteous at faith. Sanctification and Grateful Obedience are grace after the gift: grow and obey from thanks, not to buy acceptance. Forgiveness flows the same way - forgive because grace already cleared my debt. Assurance and Standing vs Fellowship keep a bad week from collapsing standing with closeness. PKM mirror: Minimum Effective Dose - faith is the smallest act that still works for salvation; grace is why one sufficient gift beats a lifetime merit ladder.
Examples
- A teammate listed every good deed this month like it was his ticket to heaven - grace is the gift through faith, not the report card from the season.
- Romans 4 in my head but guilt still treats every bad week like a revoked passport - grace settled standing; the walk is a different category.
