Jesus' Prayers
Table of Contents
Seven prayers the Gospels quote word for word - thanksgiving, surrender, intercession, and the cross.
Key Concept
- Jesus' Rhythms shows how often He prayed; this hub holds the prayers we can read verbatim.
- The Gospels name many prayer moments without quoting them - dawn solitude, all night on the mountain, Pray When Drained after feeding five thousand.
- Seven recorded speeches to the Father anchor the lane below - each Atomic Notes carries six review cards at /notes/review/ with filter Jesus Prayers.
- Under Free Grace, copying His words is not earning heaven - it is learning how the Son talked to His Father.

Thanksgiving and trust
- Thank Father for Revelation - thanks the Father for hiding truth from the proud and revealing it to little children (Luke 10:21)
- Thank Father at Lazarus - thanks the Father aloud at the tomb so the crowd would believe (John 11:41-42)
- Glorify Your Name - facing the cross, asks the Father to glorify His name (John 12:28)
Surrender and intercession
- Not My Will - Gethsemane: “not what I will, but what You will” (Matthew 26:39; Mark 14:36; Luke 22:42)
- Pray for His Own - John 17: prayer for Himself, the twelve, and all future believers
From the cross
- Father Forgive Them - “Father, forgive them” (Luke 23:34)
- Into Your Hands - “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit” (Luke 23:46)
Matthew and Mark also record Psalm 22 on the cross - “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” - a cry of dereliction, not a separate hub note here.
