Only Pleases Father
Table of Contents
The Son does nothing on His own - watches the Father and copies what pleases Him.
Key Concept
- He said the Son can do nothing on His own - He watches the Father and does what He sees.
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.John 5:19 NASB1995
- John 8:28 repeats the move - speak and act as the Father taught, not self-initiative theater.
So Jesus said, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me.John 8:28 NASB1995
- The Father's Food names obedience as sustenance; Discern His Will Daily tests the next fork the same way.
- Under Free Grace, pleasing the Father is grateful imitation - not a wage for eternal life.
Level 1 - Recognize
Only pleases the Father means the Son does nothing on His own initiative - He watches the Father and copies.
Level 2 - Explain
Like an apprentice who waits for the master's signal before the cut - initiative follows the Sender, not ego.
Level 3 - Use
Before the loud yes, ask what the Father is already doing - then join that move instead of inventing a solo sprint.
Level 4 - Connect
Self-initiative theater looks busy - because the Son waited on the Father, speed without alignment still misses the meal.
Level 5 - Create
Pair with Grateful Obedience and Not My Will - cross-shaped surrender when the Father's path costs comfort.
Examples
- I said yes to the visible project before prayer - glad only pleases the Father meant wait for the Sender's signal, not hero optics.
- Skipped the awkward apology because I had my own plan - Jesus spoke and acted as the Father taught, not on self-initiative.
