Reconcile Before the Review

Evergreen Created Jun 21, 2026 · Updated Jun 21, 2026

Reconcile before the review = if a colleague still has something against me, I go address it before the quarterly review, the launch demo, or the reorg meeting.

Process doesn't heal a broken trust link. The person who knows there's a breach moves first - a short call, an owned apology, a specific repair - then we talk OKRs. Same order as Reconciliation Before Worship, minus the religious frame: relationship before ritual performance.

Example

I had a solid deck for our quarterly review but my teammate was still cold from something I said in last month's retro. I booked fifteen minutes with him before the meeting instead of hoping the slides would smooth it over.

I figured RSS quietly died around 2010. A friend pointed out it never actually did - it just stopped being trendy. Two weeks of using it later, I was a convert.
