Servant Leadership

Evergreen Created Jun 21, 2026 · Updated Jun 21, 2026

Servant leadership = the person who wants to lead well makes the team win - unblocks, coaches, takes blame upward, shares credit downward.

The corporate ladder rewards visibility; this principle runs the other way. Wash feet in the sprint, not only in the all-hands speech. Gospel depth: Humility and Service. I can explain this in a leadership book club without opening a sermon.

Example

I got promoted and caught myself delegating only the boring work while keeping the visible wins. Servant leadership meant taking the messy incident postmortem myself and putting the junior who fixed it in the demo.

I figured RSS quietly died around 2010. A friend pointed out it never actually did - it just stopped being trendy. Two weeks of using it later, I was a convert.
